For the child of God, God our Father is our divine keeper. From the moment we are saved, until we arrive in heaven, we are kept in the palm of his hand, as it were, and no one can pluck us out of his care. Christ prayed for his own that they would be kept in the Father’s name. Jesus said: “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee, Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be as we are.” John 17:11. He prayed that we would be kept in safety. “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.” John 17:12. We are kept in joyfulness: “And now come I to thee and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.” John 17:13. Jesus keeps us in purity: “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil”. John 17:15. We are kept separated from the world. “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. He sets us apart and sanctifies us from the world so that we might glorify him and bring forth fruit for his glory. He gives us work to do and keeps us active in his service, and we are kept for his coming and glory that we might be found in him holy and acceptable before God our Father. “Sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth. As thou has sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.” John 17: 17,18 “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word, that they all may be one, as thou Father art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” John 17: 20,21. “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them that they may be one, even as we are one. I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me. Father I will that they also whom thou has given me, be with me where I am: that they may behold my glory which thou has given me; for thou lovedest me before the foundation of the world.” John 17: 22,23,24. God our Father will surely honor the request of his only begotten son; therefore, we could not have any greater security than this. We are kept and are being kept by our divine keeper. Not only is he our keeper, but he is also our constant companion and sleepless watchman. “And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest; and will bring thee again into this land, for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of” Psalm 34:20 He is our protecting Father and our almighty guardian. “For the which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” 2 Timothy 1:12

Jesus said “ I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Jesus was and is the truth, and he taught truth . In order for the weak to adapt to truth, it had to be presented in ways in which they could understand. Jesus taught truth by using parables. “And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.” Mark 4:33 Human weakness necessitates patience. Some people are more able to grasp the truth of the Word of God than others. Not everyone is at the same level of maturity, and need to have truth presented to them at their level of understanding. “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear then now.” Jesus said. John 16:12. Very simple truths must be taught to the spiritually immature. “I have fed you with milk, and not with meat; for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet are ye able. 1 Corinthians 3:2 New born lambs must be fed with food suitable to them as they are able to digest it, so new born lambs or babes in Christ must be fed that which they can receive. It is the duty of stronger more mature Christians to feed the new born lambs. “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simion Peter, Simon, son of Jonas; lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, yea Lord thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him feed my \lambs.” John 21:15. Some are unable to receive deeper truths. “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that we teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk and not of strong meat.” Heb 5:12 There have to be different messages presented to different classes of people. “ I write unto you fathers because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the father. 1 John 2:13. Paul’s example of presenting truth to the mature and immature: “To the weak became I as weak that I might gain the weak; I am made all things to all men that I might by all means save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:22.

They that abound in the salvation of God through Christ are the light of the world. They bring the light of hope into a dark and dying world which is filled with sin and darkness. The faithful become radiant as stars. “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12:3. They who abound in salvation and faithfully serve the Lord out of love and gratitude for him will receive a royal welcome in heaven. “Then shall the king say unto them on the right hand, come ye blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” Math 25:34. They who abound in salvation may be afflicted and have to suffer trials and tribulations for a season, but our light afflictions add to the final glory. “For our light affliction which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” 2 Cor 4:17 Our abundant salvation through Christ assures for us a triumphant entrance into heaven. “For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:11 The precious blood of Christ which was spilled for us to give us our abundant salvation, guarantees us a place near to the heart of God, and we are given a place near the throne of God. “And I said unto him, sir thou knowest. And he said to me, these are they which came out of great tribulation and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Rev 7:14. “therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he that sitteth on the throe shall dwell among them.” Rev 7:15

Read Psalm 70
Who would seek after my soul, and who would desire my hurt? Who is the chief enemy of our soul? Satan is God’s enemy, and because we are the children of God, he is our enemy also, and he will use every means at his disposal to seek after our soul and draw us away from God to our eternal destruction. We need to be aware of Satan’s tactics: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood; but against principalities; against powers; against the rulers of the darkness 0f this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6;12. Jesus gave a warning to Simon Peter that Satan would desire to destroy his faith and his testimony: “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.” Luke 22: 31 When we are in constant pain, Satan can use it to take our mind and focus away from God and sometimes make us blame God. When we are lonely, Satan can use our loneliness to draw us to ungodly associations, and cause us to try to find consolation in wicked worldly pleasures that last only for a moment, and eventual despair. When we are in poverty, Satan can make us to be covetous, and even temp us to steal, lie, and cheat. We must constantly be on our guard against the wiles of Satan. When we are in desperate pain, we must remember to flee to God for relief, for he is the great physician and healer. When we are lonely, we must remember that Jesus is an ever present friend and companion if we will have him to be so. When we are in poverty, we must remember the promises of God that our help comes from God, and that he will supply all our needs. “We must be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 We must do as the Psalmist did, and pray constantly to our Father in heaven that he will protect us from his enemy and ours. “Make haste, O God to deliver me: make haste to help me, O Lord” Psalm 70:1. God has told us in other scriptures that he inhabits our praises. When we are constantly thinking of him and praising him and rejoicing and being glad in him, he is ever present with us, and when the spirit of God dwells within us, Satan and all that is evil and would seek our soul to hurt and destroy us must flee away. “Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee; and let such as love thy salvation say continually, let God be magnified.” Psalm 70:4.

Read Psalm 33
A new regime will soon be inaugurated in Washington. Will our nation be blessed? Will God look down from heaven and see his people in control of our great land? Will our leaders call upon the Lord God of heaven and earth for wisdom to make important decisions in the lives and affairs of men? Is the infallible word of God, the holy bible, the compass for our nation to lead us through these troubled waters? Or, will we chose to forget God and his guidance, and be cast into hell as the scriptures warn? “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all nations that forget God>“ Psalm 9: 17. Or, will we have reason for rejoicing as we are promised by the holy writ - “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule the people mourn.” Proverbs 29: 2. “Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14: 34. I pray that in the days ahead, we the people, will have cause for rejoicing and praising God. I pray that when God looks down from heaven he will see righteousness prevailing in our government, and that he will be pleased to bless us. “Rejoice in the Lord, o ye righteous; for praise is comely for the upright.” Psalm 33:1. “For the word of the Lord is right; and his works are done in truth.” Psalm 33:4. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. There is no king saved by the multitude of an host; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. An horse is a vain thing for safety; neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Behold, the eyes of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.” Psalm 33: 16-19.
